Iron Spring Farm consists of 70 acres in the beautiful coastal hills of California. Surrounded by a combination of Redwoods and Oak trees, it is a horsemens paradise. Originally built in 1950 to be a top of the line Thoroughbred breeding and training facility for racehorses. The property went up for sale and was then purchased by Edward Mortensen in 1971. It had everything he needed and more to begin his Sport Horse empire. Iron Spring Farm is now owned and operated by Edward's grand daughter, Ashlyn Mortensen. She decided to have ISF specialize in the breeding and training of Dutch Warmbloods for international competition and sales. With the help of her devoted team of equine experts, Iron Spring Farm is running at full speed. To see the profiles of each staff member please click here.

There are a total of 3 barns at ISF. A main barn, training barn, and a foaling barn. With a total of 25 stalls. There are currently 3 huge irrigated pastures, and 8 large living paddocks. There is room for expansion if needed. We have an olympic sized outdoor Jumping arena, a full sized outdoor Dressage court, and a large indoor area primarily used for jumping. An indoor Dressage court is currently being constructed. Since ISF was once a racehorse training/breeding facility, there is a training track which comes in handy when needing to condition horses. For 3-Day Eventers, we have a newly constructed cross country course. Equipped with ditches, water jumps, etc. Some enjoy just taking their horses out for a walk, we have our park built around a large pond with beautiful natural landscaping.
